Great Deals in unsuspected places Can't Post

I have to share another best deal find. This gets better and better. Due to my girlfriends car being in the shop for repairs I had to take her to work. On my way back I stopped and got some breakfast and decided to go into the local GoodWill and check out the electronics area.

To my amazement I saw a very nice PC case that was black and silver and looked to be in mint condition. It was a Compaq Presario 6010US which later I discovered had an AMD 1600+ processor. I was in total shock when I saw the price that was written on it... It was only 10.00. Without even worrying about opening the case and investigating further I decided it was like getting one of those grab bags that you dont know whats inside of it and my anxiety was almost unbearable to get home and open it.

Once I got it home I opened the case and found that everything was inside of the case as it was new. It had the following:

AMD Athlon XP 1600+ Processor
DVD Drive (no burner)
CD Rom
256MB memory
Hard Drive (had to be replaced, I had a spare 30G) Wink
PCI Sound Card
56K fax Modem

There is also the Windows XP Home Edition Keycode Label on the top rear of case. With this I plan to contact Microsoft and pay a few bucks to get the CD mailed to me.

For now I installed Windows XP Professional and I had a couple of 512MB sticks of memory lying around so its pushing 1G now. This little machine runs very well and for only 10.00, who can complain. Not me...

It pays to look around, you never know what you will run across.

You can't complain about stuff you get for cheap/free!

That's actually quite the deal... $10?????

69.70 is also good... where did you find that deal?

It seems as though you have lots of good luck, and I don't. I suck at finding huge deals.

I was actually wasting time before going into work shopping at Fry's Electronics. They dont carry 478 sockets anymore but for some reason they had 1 last one advertised.

I did a double take when I saw the price and asked the salesperson if it really was a 478 socket. He said no, we dont carry those anymore. I noticed the tag had "skt478" at the bottom description and I pointed it out to him. He checked it and sure enough they had 1 in stock.

Without thinking twice I had the salesperson to print out a sales ticket and I went to the front to get the CPU picked from lockup.

I would buy those all day for that price. I don't get lucky like that all the time but I do seem to get some good deals here and there.

I found an Asus P4P800S for 33.00 on ebay. I plan to use this board to build my Media Center System. All I need to do is get my ATI X850XT Pro video card back from repair/replacement from ATI and I will be in business.
